is Parts Pro?
technical name for this type of organization is "Programmed
Distribution." It is similar to a cooperative, owned by the
warehouse distributors. The goal is to enhance the purchasing power
of each member warehouse, and to share certain operating expenses,
to better their competitive position in its marketing area. The
savings are passed on to the local independent retailers (Parts
Pro Performance Centers), which improves their competitive position.
Parts Pro is dedicated to making local brick and mortar retail businesses
viable and profitable. To that end we provide special pricing, data
and marketing information, and other information and tools exclusively
to our affiliated stores. Parts Pro also creates a full complement
of marketing materials that are designed to identify our retailers
with performance products and expose store shoppers to a broad,
high quality product mix at very competitive prices.
is a Warehouse Distributor?
distributors serve as a step between a product's manufacturer and
the retail store. This is the system that is used by the majority
of retailing markets. The WD stores large quanities of inventory
from the manufacturer and then distributes that inventory across
a geographic region to its retailers and customers as needed. The
WD provides products and services to the retailers in a region much
more efficiently than could manufacturers, so they rely on a regional
network of warehouses to assure its products are available to retailer's
store. The WD's job is to make sure there are adequate quantities
on the shelves and new inventories arrive in a timely manner. Distributors
work to service the manufacturers and the retailers, plus gain new
retail customers. They must provide the retail customer with the
right parts and deliver them on time with a competitive price. By
purchasing products as a larger group, members of a programmed distribution
group can acquire better terms and pass those advantages on to their
affiliated retailers. The WD members of a programmed distribution
group can also gain added savings by sharing many costs (and inventories)
that in turn provide competitive advantages to the local affiliate
