If you’re looking for bolt-on power and torque for your new LT1, the new Atomic AirForce intake manifold from MSD is the answer! This all-new polymer intake will increase the performance of stock and modified versions of the Direct-Injected LT1 engine.

MSD initiated the clean-sheet AirForce design by addressing the performance shortcomings of the OEM manifold. Through the use of Computational Fluid Dynamic modeling, MSD was able to optimize the plenum volume and improve runner layout. Unique bell-mouthed runner openings, optimum runner length, and minimal shrouding ensure maximum airflow and cylinder-to-cylinder balance.

The LT1 intake is a two-piece molded design that allows for porting and runner modification, while the polymer construction minimizes weight and heat absorption. MSD also made it easy to accommodate power adders by equipping the AirForce LT1 manifold with integral port fuel injection bosses at the base of each runner.

The AirForce LT1 intake accepts an OEM electronic throttle body as well as aftermarket electronic throttles up to 105 mm.

When the candy apple red Camaro pulled into our parking lot last week, we knew Painless Performance had arrived. Company President Adrian Murray and National Sales Manager Derek Love came into town to talk shop, marketing, and the promotion of their exciting new Trail Rocker product line.

This year Painless celebrated its 25th anniversary in the aftermarket industry. The K&N 71-2545 Blackhawk Induction Air Intake System for the 2011-2016 Challenger/Charger/300 6.4L is a free-flowing, mandrel-bent aluminum tube air intake system that is guaranteed to gain power. It replaces your vehicle’s restrictive factory air filter and air intake housing. This low-restriction system allows your engine to inhale a larger amount of air than it would from the stock air intake. More air means more power and acceleration. This product comes with black components including a K&N high-flow air filter and heat shield. The tube features an attractive, textured, black powder-coated finish and an engraved K&N plate welded on–creating a clean, high-performance look under the hood. The intake tube accommodates the factory air temperature sensor and crank case vent hose. The oversized cone-shaped air filter is made from an oil-free synthetic filter medium that can be used for up to 100,000 miles before cleaning is needed, depending on driving conditions. This air intake is relatively easy to install, usually only 90 minutes or less using existing factory mounting points and commonly available tools.

PROFORM: Wedge-Lock Header Bolts

Each PROFORM Class 12.9 (equiv. Grade 8) Header Bolt is permanently assembled with a pair of special wedge-locking washers. When the bolt is torqued to 28+ ft.-lb., the washers’ super-hardened external teeth bite into and grip the bottom of the bolt head and the top surface of the header. After being self-locked in this manner, any bolt-loosening rotation is blocked by a wedge-locking action created by the washers’ interfacing, matching cams. It’s an uphill climb: vibration that might ordinarily loosen the bolt actually increases the wedge-locking tension, securing the bolt even more. Because this design uses tension instead of friction, contact with oil actually facilitates the wedge-locking effect. When it comes time to change headers, PROFORM Header Bolts can be loosened with a normal wrench, lubricated, and reused.

Parts Pro regularly hosts marketing strategy meetings for manufacturers and distributors from throughout the country, but this week we welcomed three special visitors from just outside our own backyard: P&E Distributors.

P&E, which stands for performance and electronics (fun fact), operates out of Goodlettsville, TN, which is just northeast of Nashville. In the aftermarket business since the early 1960s, P&E remains a family-run organization committed to the growth and success of its jobbers. The two-time SEMA Warehouse Distributor of the Year maintains an extensive selection of both truck and performance accessories to fulfill needs for a diverse customer base.

The P&E contingent included Purchasing Manager Chris Eatherly, Warehouse Manager Josh Eatherly, and Marketing Director Scott Dobler. They made the 4.5-hour drive east out to see us for a two-day marketing intensive, which included business analyses, customer-focused discussions, and goal building.
