Cloyes has added timing chain water pump kits to its growing timing system lineup, starting with two applications for GM Ecotec, covering nearly 4 million vehicles currently operating across North America:
- 9-4201SWP: for GM Ecotec 2L
- 9-4201SAWP: for GM Ecotec 2.4L
Similar to timing belt water pump kits, which have been successful in the aftermarket, timing chain water pump kits are necessary as the shift to OE chain-driven timing drives increases. Failing more frequently than timing chains, timing chain–driven water pumps should always be replaced at the same time as the timing chain to reduce warranties, customer comebacks, and preserve long-term system performance. Cloyes is actively developing other kits and will release them as they are complete.
