AEM (30-2217): OBDII CAN Bus Harness for CD-7 and CD-7L Digital Dash Displays

With its easy plug-and-play connection, the 30-2217 OBDII CAN bus adapter harness from AEM makes the CD-7/CD-7L the perfect racing display for users who want to be able to see engine and vehicle data but are still running a factory ECU. And for CD-7 owners who are already using the dash and receiving channels from a data logger or other CAN bus–enabled device, you can now add channels through the OBD connection with no additional wiring.

With the release of CD-7 software version 1.01.0X, all CD-7 Digital Dash displays can read CAN bus data from the OBDII port of 2008-and-up vehicles with a simple firmware update. To help with the installation, the 30-2217 links the CD-7 harness and the vehicle’s OBDII connector. AEM’s CD-7 plug-and-play power cable is included to make an easy power and ground connection for the dash.

Once the harness is connected, the dash polls the vehicle’s CAN bus to see what channels are available and what speed they are being delivered. Users can then select the channels they want to add to the display, set alarms for available channels, and log them if using a CD-7L logging dash.

Features

  • Provides plug-and-play connection for adding CAN bus channels on vehicles year 2008 and up.
  • Select and prioritize available channels for best possible transfer speed.
  • Add AEM VDM for track mapping, lap times, and vehicle dynamics.

AEM CD-7 Digital Racing Dash Display

AEM: CD-7/CD-7L Digital Racing Dash Displays

CAN Dash 7” (CD-7) and CAN Dash 7” Logging (CD-7L) color digital displays from AEM are now available! Their ultra-bright, high-contrast displays are readable in sunlight thanks to an integrated glare diffuser and shade hood. Designed to accept channels from CAN bus connections (analog input not supported), these units feature two CAN bus channels in order to receive and collect data from AEMnet-enabled devices such as the Infinity ECU, Series 2 EMS or EMS-4, and 3rd party devices such as PDMs, CAN sensor modules, and programmable engine management systems.

Seven ultra-bright LEDs span the top of the display housing for RPM and shift-light indication; these are programmable to ascend in specific increments based on RPM range, then flash when it is time to shift. Two large physical buttons allow easy page browsing and memory resetting even with driving gloves on. These button functions are also duplicated on the rear connector, giving users the option to mount remote buttons on the steering wheel. AEM also included two additional programmable LEDs above the toggle buttons on the sides of the housing.

Four units available: 30-5500 (CD-7, non-logging display), 30-5501 (CD-7L, logging display), 30-5502 (CD-7 with VDM), and 30-5503 (CD-7L with VDM).

Note: Third-party systems will require download of third-party DBC CAN bus protocol files for proper operation if they are not included in AEM setup software.
